The predator at bay -
Author of our own demise
Or are we just
Fooling ourselves
In the daily game
Of cat and mouse
Knowing full well
Our tiny legs
Can’t keep up
With the outstretched paws
Of a persistent pursuer
Who deeply understands
It’s all for sport.
