Taking care of crypto taxes is confusing and stressful enough as it is. Throw staking rewards into the mix and we have a real nightmare on our hands. Conventional block explorers are difficult and cumbersome for getting long-term blockchain activity in one shot. Fortunately, our Arronax analytics tool makes things a little easier for Tezos users. Here’s a little tutorial that should set you on your way.

First, copy your own Tezos address and your baker’s Tezos address from your favorite wallet. We are, of course, partial to the Galleon wallet which gives you a copy button right next to your addresses:

Our example wallet address is tz1djRgXXWWJiY1rpMECCxr5d9ZBqWewuiU1 and our baker’s address from the past year is tz1PFeoTuFen8jAMRHajBySNyCwLmY5RqF9M. Now we’re ready to use Arronax!

We open Arronax by visiting https://arronax.io/. Clicking on the red ‘Explore Data’ button gets us to the data explorer tool. Finally, we click on Operations to specify the dataset we are interested in.

The default data is not useful to us yet. We click on the Filter button to customize the Arronax query. Now we set some filters to see the data we really want:

  • Update the timestamp filter to reflect the past tax year.
  • Add a Source filter and set it to the baker’s address
  • Add a Destination filter and set it to our own address

Once you set the filters to reflect your own data, they should look something like this:

Note that Arronax automatically detects the destination address belongs to Galleon Support. Most other addresses will not be auto-detected.

Hit the apply button and you should see all the payments from your baker from the past year!

If you want the results as a CSV file, just hit the Export button. That’s it, you’re on your way to doing your Tezos taxes for the past year!

If you have any issues or questions, feel free to reach out to us.

We realize things will be a lot easier for our users if we also include fiat values of all transactions so we’ll get to it as soon as we humanly can. In the meantime, if you have some spare time, play around with Arronax, slice and dice Tezos data and get acquainted with this powerful analytics tool for fun and for profit.
