CLUSTERTRUCK Review

As journalism becomes more casual, commentary videos have become the cream and crop of youtube. Almost all presenters boost interest with not only their daily takes on the news, but also some unrelated gameplay footage. This is confined to AAA’s such as Overwatch, CS:GO, and COD, but more recently an indie game has started to appear in the fray. Titled Clustertruck, it takes the amazing of jumping across transportation, in extremely perilous ways. So, have these impressions held true?

Gameplay:

CLUSTERTRUCK adds a wide variety of obstacles to always put you on edge, but the one rule that never holds unpredictability is the game’s fail-state. Touch the ground once, and you’re back to the beginning! This wouldn’t be as fun as it sounds if the game’s physics weren’t so chaotic, and it creates an environment that’s always fun to go back to.

Story & Design:

CLUSTERTRUCK doesn’t hold a narrative, but it’s other characteristics prove it shouldn’t be counted out. The game has a pretty substantial level editor, proving that the game will likely be played longer than it’s conventional completion. Some touches are also made in the levels too, like how you never stay in the same spot while spawning.

Presentation/ Visuals & Audio:

CLUSTERTRUCK is a short game when price is considered, and the game doesn’t stand itself apart in presentation in order to add a definitive pop. The soundtrack and graphics are pretty bare-bones, although I’m happy there’s no performance issues. After all, it is very hectic!

Conclusion:

CLUSTERTRUCK will likely be remembered as one of the more unique titles to release in the second half of 2016, and is a good novelty alone or with others. The game expands beautifully upon a concept that would have otherwise gotten old in five minutes, and I can’t commend that enough.
