Drawful 2 Review

The original Drawful’s been out for more than a year, and it’s still the killer party app among my friends. I’ve laughed my ass off at crazy misspellings, wacky answers, and the arguments that have begun between what a certain drawing may be. Better yet, it strikes a successful middle ground between other friendship straining games like Monopoly, where you won’t end up hating each other. There’s an undeniable sense of creativity at hand, and I was extremely hopeful this would continue in Drawful 2. Well, pick up your pen, because it’s about to get messy in the best way possible all over again.

Gameplay:

The game can be played on a variety of mobile devices

The guys and gals over at Jackbox undeniably know how to create satisfying yet simple party game experiences, and Drawful 2 further proves these points. Based off the first game in which you guess a friends drawing based off of a series of prompts, there have been a variety of changes implemented at the benefit of the player. There’s a family friendly setting in case you aren’t under the influence, and you can even create your own card sets. Amidst all the content, it’s also important to dive into how wonderful the game’s delivery is.

Story & Design:

I’ll go for the underdog “hurt my back raking”

The core of Drawful is present in Drawful 2, but I don’t consider this a negative as others might think, and neither did my friends. I’m happy Jackbox didn’t substitute a new concept in at the expense of laughter, as they know that that stuff more or less fits in their Jackbox Party Pack series. It shows how a company like Jackbox can make great games and is self-aware, a true testament against the other devs that might wanna make a quick buck.

Presentation/ Visuals & Audio:

Anybody can join the chaos!

Drawful 2 also continues the trait of great presentation, as audio and graphics aren’t necessarily in the mix (besides for a rather chirpy presenter) The funny fonts typically fit with the themes, and the game knows that you’ll get ready for some ridiculousness to come your way. Otherwise, it’s a bit light, but the gameplay is the true bread and butter.

Conclusion:

Drawful 2 is an excellent, although mechanically unsubstantial sequel to a hit party game. A small portion of gamers might be disappointed at the lack of true changes, but the hilarity outweighs the innovation, and for good reason. Drawful 2 is a comedic masterpiece.

Drawful 2 gets a 9/10 (Superb)
