Today we have some Xbox headlines, as well as news surrounding mid-tier game companies. Here are your essential stories for Friday, January 27th 2017.
Resident Evil 7 has passed the 2 million mark in shipments:
While sold through numbers have yet to be revealed, Capcom has shared that Resident Evil 7 has shipped more than 2.5 million units, since its Tuesday release. This number also includes digital sales, but those aren’t separately specified. This now puts the Resident Evil franchise at 75 million shipped.
Dead Rising 4 will soon get a free trial:
Announced along the release date of three Street Fighter themed skins (Jan 30th, in case you were wondering), Dead Rising 4 is getting a free trial the day following. While it hasn’t been detailed how long it will last, in-game progress and achievements will carry over. Dead Rising 4 originally launched last December.
Xbox Live now has 55 million monthly active users:
Announced in a quarterly earnings report/conference call, Xbox Live now has 55 million monthly active users. This means the userbase has grown compared to last year, although Microsoft has still decided not to provide numbers for console sales.
QuakeCon 2017 has a date, and location:
QuakeCon 2017 will take place in the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, all the way in Dallas Texas, Bethesda has announced. It will be open for three days during August 24th to the 27th, and will presumably feature Quake: Champions at the forefront. As always, admission is free.
Pillars of Eternity 2 has reached it’s funding goal:
Pillars of Eternity’s sequel has now passed it’s stretch goal on Fig, meaning that equity status can also be issued. Surprisingly, this was done in less than a day, so it’s one of the fastest funding efforts on the platform. Check out a Thank You update from Obsidian, below (concerning the recent news):
