The Cube-Daily News Update: 6/22/17

We’ve got a politics cameo and covers for games that won’t come out for years, but other than that its a pretty normal news day. Here are your essential stories for Thursday, June 22nd 2017.

German chancellor Angela Merkel will open this years Gamescom:

Gamescom organizer Koelnmesse and the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software have shared a joint announcement today, detailing that German chancellor Angela Merkel will open the biggest gaming convention in Europe, Gamescom. The convention runs from August 22nd to the 26th, and opens to the public on the 23rd (The previous day is always reserved for the press). No conferences have been confirmed for the event, this is Merkel’s first appearance at Gamescom. Merkel is running for a fourth term in Germany’s September general election.

The first Killing Floor is free on Humble:

Humble Bundle is running their own FPS-oriented sale to compete with Steam’s massive Summer sale, and as part of the deals, you can grab 2009’s zombie-themed Killing Floor for free until Saturday morning. A trailer has even been released for the deal, keep in mind the full sale does not end until two days later.

Multiple concept art shots have leaked from a supposed Bully sequel:

A GameInformer webpage for a Bully sequel was recently denied for confirmation, but new concept art hints that the game existed at one point. It has all been released by user GTAFanClub on the GTA Forums, and although they are watermarked, you can make out a ton of characters, although none featuring the game’s first protagonist. Rockstar and Take Two have yet to confirm/deny anything, there is also rumor surrounding an upcoming remastered version of L.A. Noire.

Beyond Good and Evil 2’s first gameplay preview has been released:

Released as part of community oriented Space Monkey Program, E3 2017’s behind closed doors demo of Beyond Good and Evil 2 has now been released. While it doesn’t feature a specific story section (the game is still very early) we do get a sense at the game’s scope and features. Beyond Good and Evil 2 currently does not have a release date or a list of supported platforms. You can watch the demo below.

NHL 18 has been announced, with a cover star, release date, and more:

NHL 18 is releasing on September 25th for Playstation 4 and Xbox One and will have Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid as its cover star, EA Sports announced today at the 2017 NHL Awards. It was also noted that before the game’s launch a beta will take place on July 25th, although you’ll have to register for it.
