On the 19th day of July, gaming news gave to me, the Nintendo Switch’s first baseball game, more Comic-Con headlines and three Telltale megatons. Here are your essential stories for Wednesday, July 19th 2017.

The Nintendo Switch is getting its first baseball game:

MLB The Show is still exclusive to Playstation but nevertheless, MLB has stepped in to announce that their version of this year’s annual baseball franchise, RBI Baseball 17, is coming to the console. The game will release on September 5th, and will cost $20. Features include Season, Postseason, Exhibition, and Local Multiplayer modes, on top of 30 starring ballparks. The last baseball game to release on a Nintendo home platform was MLB2K12 in March 2012.

Don’t expect new Spider-Man footage at this year’s Comic-Con:

Despite a Marvel Games panel showing up at this year’s Comic Con on July 20th (specifically 1 PM PT), Insomniac Games has clarified on Twitter that they will not be showcasing their upcoming Playstation 4 action adventure exclusive with gameplay at the show. The last look at the game we received was actually recently at this years D23, and more was shown a month prior at E3. With this context, the game choosing to lay dormant makes more sense. Spider-Man is still set to launch sometime next year, but lacks a specific release date.

Xbox has given an overview of what they are bringing to Comic-Con:

Premiering on the company’s Mixer platform, Xbox has announced it will be airing a three hour Comic-Con Bash, with Janina Gavankar and Major Nelson hosting a variety of special guests. Featured games include Crackdown 3, Tacoma, Forza Motorsport 3, and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, and the event will last three hours (9 PM PT to 12 PM PT). Nearly every exclusive game the company is launching at the end of this year is being showcased, besides for Fable Fortune and Cuphead.

Telltale has announced season continuations of three of their franchises:

Telltale Games has beaten Comic-Con to the punch, and has announced that The Wolf Among Us, Batman, and The Walking Dead will all be receiving new seasons, with the latter being its last. All except Batman will debut sometime during next year (with the Caped Crusader’s first episode releasing on August 8th), on Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac; iOS and Android versions will be released down the line. You can watch a 10 minute+ video detailing each announcement below.

The Media Player Classic is likely no more:

Developer XhmikosR has revealed that the Media Player Classic will likely be discontinued in the future, following its newest update. This is because the number of active developers for the product is decreasing, and this means less C/C++ experience. However, there is a chance for it to continue along, as long as new developers come in to deliver their expertise. Media Player Classic first launched in 2003 for the PC, and has been a staple for those who want to mimic the look of Windows Player 6.4 with modern features.
