Run the gauntlet with sword fighting and indie games galore. Here are your essential stories for Monday, July 7th 2017.

Derek Yu’s first game since Spelunky has been revealed:

Derek Yu first came into the gaming spotlight after being the mind behind 2009’s Spelunky, and now, following a 2012 remaster of that game, he’s finally delivering some new work alongside Eirik Suhkre, Jon Perry, Paul Hubans, and Ojiro Fumoto all compacted in the newly unveiled compilation UFO 50. The collection was influenced by what gamers would see back in the SEGA Mega Drive days, and its set to release sometime next year. You can watch a trailer below.

There is now more evidence pointing to an upcoming release of Recore Definitive Edition:

A new rating has appeared on PEGI’s website for Recore: Definitive Edition, meaning the 2015 Xbox One shooter may be undergoing an upcoming re-release. This is also following a similar German USK rating a couple of months ago, Microsoft and or developers Armature/Asobo Studios have not shared news on these leaks. The PEGI listing says the game will release on Xbox One and PC.

Gear.Club Unlimited will be coming to the Switch physically:

Released in May of last year, its been revealed that mobile racer port Gear Club Unlimited will be arriving to the Nintendo Switch in more ways than one, specifically meaning retail. Unfortunately, other details such as a price, specific release date, box art, and publisher are bare, the announcement was shared as a response to a fan question. Obviously, the game will also be released digitally through the Eshop.

For Honor is receiving a free weekend:

In anticipation of the game’s third season, For Honor is having a free weekend from August 10th (12 PM PT) to August 14th (5 PM PT) on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This is set to include all of the game’s features, and it is also on sale for 50% off on console. The sword fighting game first released on February 14th, you can view a trailer for the event below.

The first expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn now has a release date:

Announced during this years E3, the first expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn, titled The Frozen Wilds now has a release date of November 7th. Paired along with the announcement was an avatar given if you pre-order, Horizon Zero Dawn first released on February 28th. The DLC is set to release for $20.
