More backwards compatibility, more Ni No Kuni 2, more NBA 2K18, you get the deal. Here are your essential stories for Tuesday, August 8th 2017.
Here’s whats coming to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program this week:

Major Nelson has announced on Twitter that Deadliest Warrior, Disney Bolt, Fighting Vipers, and the disc version of Batman: Arkham Origins are now backwards compatible for Xbox One. A reason was not given for why the digital version of Batman is not compatible, all four games were added to the overall list of backwards compatible titles.
Humble is offering two indie games for free this week:

Amongst a microjumbo sale that includes a variety of indie games, Humble Bundle is now offering titles Pony Island and Space Pilgrim Episode 1 for free this week. Humble is now stranger to giving games for free, they recently gave users free codes for 2014's Shadow Warrior remake. It is unclear if the remaining Space Pilgrim episodes will be given for free in the future.
Nintendo is bringing back the World Championships in time for their holiday lineup:

Following the revival of the event at E3 2015, Nintendo is bringing back its World Championship at select Best Buy’s across the U.S., with finalists coming to a main event in New York during early October. The Championships will center on 2011's Mario Kart 7, but those who participate will also receive free Nintendo themed goodies. The event formally begins on August 19th-September 10th, Nintendo has cited they are bringing back the event in order to display competition of their most famous franchises.
Ni No Kuni 2's Collector Edition has been revealed:

The upcoming sequel to 2013’s hit RPG Ni No Kuni, Ni No Kuni 2: Revevant Kingdom has had its collectors editions revealed. The first is the Day One edition, which gives you an exclusive item, while the Premium Edition ups this for $20 more, with a soundtrack, papercraft kit, a DLC sword, and a steelbook case. The last collectors edition, which is $200, contains all this alongside an art book, diorama, Blu-Ray documentary, display case, and a Season Pass. It is limited to 25,000 copies. Ni No Kuni 2 releases on January 19th, 2018.
NBA 2K18’s Prelude has a release date:

Although NBA 2K18 releases on September 19th, 2K has announced that players will be able to get a free sneak peek at the game once again, through a Prelude demo. This is releasing on September 8th for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and all progress will carry over into the full game. Strangely, although NBA 2K18 is releasing on the Nintendo Switch, it won’t be receiving a Prelude demo.
