New game announcements are on the corner, even though E3 is still a month away. Here are your essential stories for Tuesday, May 7th, 2019.
A new Ghost Recon game is likely being announced soon:
Its been over two years since the latest Ghost Recon game, Ghost Recon: Wildlands launched, and now it looks like Ubisoft is planning another one. The gaming behemoth released a new teaser image on their social media that announces a new reveal live stream for something related to the franchise on Thursday, May 9th, at 11:30 AM PT. No other details are offered, but as stated before the assumption of a new game is likely correct as the stream link does not contain any information related to Wildlands, and that game has already run its DLC gamut.
Risk of Rain 2 has already experienced some great sales numbers:
Risk of Rain was a big hit when it first released all the way back in 2013, and its sequel that recently launched in Early Access seems to be achieving the same success. Developer Hopoo Games has shared that the title has already crossed the one million mark in sales, a boost from 650,000 sold in the first week. The studio also compared this to the sales of the first game, which took five years to reach the same mark.
Playstation is gearing up another State of Play livestream:
Playstation’s first State of Play event may have disappointed some, but the software maker has already announced another one, that should have a bit more weight to it. Airing on this Thursday, May 9th at 3 PM PT it will cover the upcoming MediEvil remake as well as other games and run 10 minutes. Rumors are also swirling that it will introduce a PS4 exclusive announced quite some time ago. Sony has also shared that the next generation PlayStation 5 will not be showcased.
Microsoft has updated its list of mobile games that will receive Xbox Live support:
Microsoft made news a while back when it shared that Minecraft was going to be the first mobile game to support Xbox Live, and now the feature is spreading to other titles. Mobile publisher Gameloft has revealed that Asphalt 9: Legends, Asphalt 8: Airborne and Dragon Mania Legends will sport compatibility with the network, allowing players to unlock achievements, view friends lists, and view rankings. Xbox Live was recently rumored to come to some Nintendo Switch games. Asphalt 9 first released in February of last year.
The first Devil May Cry game is coming to the Nintendo Switch:
Devil May Cry 5 was recently released to critical and commercial acclaim, but for some less powerful consoles, remasters seem to be the solution. Capcom has shared that the first game in the series is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer. No pricing was given, but it is unlikely that the game will get a retail release as it was not shared with the announcement. Remasters of other Capcom games such as Onimusha: Warlords, Okami, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil Origins Collection have recently headed to the Switch.
