Origin is thrilled to announce that Rick Lunt has joined the Core Curator team, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the luxury travel industry. Based in New York City, Rick is looking forward to being a key part of a team that drives Origin’s presence in the North American market and beyond. Most recently Rick was Director of Sales for Remote Lands, a high-end luxury tour operator focusing exclusively on Asia. Whilst Asia is his main area of expertise, he has traveled extensively and has visited over fifty countries on six continents.

During his career, Rick has had the opportunity to attend many major travel industry events such as Virtuoso Travel Week and ILTM, both as a supplier and a buyer. This has enabled him to build an extensive network of contacts throughout the World, and these relationships are leveraged to gain insider access and exclusive experiences for our clients. Rick also looks to add his own personal recommendations to each and every itinerary, whether it’s choosing the right Ryokan in Japan, or suggesting the most incredible street food in Bangkok. It’s these special touches that Rick will look to weave into itineraries for Origin clients.

“Whilst there are apps out there that enable you to book a flight or hotel with the touch of a button, there’s no app that endeavors to harness technology whilst at the same time putting human interaction and expertise at the forefront of the trip planning process. Planning travel should be a collaborative effort, and by automating mundane tasks, our expert team of Travel Curators will be able to focus solely on building relationships and learning as much as possible about our clients. Additionally, we will use our own personal experiences to make sure that every itinerary is unique, and all of our client’s wants and needs have been anticipated”.

Originally from the UK, Rick left the country of his birth over 15 years ago, spending time living in Spain and the Czech Republic, before finding his way to New York. Whilst roots have been laid in North America, it hasn’t stopped his thirst for travel, and Rick can always be found plotting the next adventure for his young family. Indeed the last few years have seen Rick focus on experiences that are family-friendly, even for those traveling with very young children. In 2019 Rick traveled with his 2-year-old daughter through Asia and the Middle-East, where highlights included a seaplane ride over Dubai and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Botanic Gardens in Singapore.

“Traveling with young children can appear daunting, but it really should be no barrier to exploring the world. Indeed as travel rebounds, we anticipate seeing more requests for multi-generation trips, with families looking to reconnect with those they have been unable to see due to the pandemic. Travel brings people closer together, and there is no greater education than visiting different countries and exploring other cultures. Now more than ever it’s important to foster relationships across borders and give back wherever possible.”

Rick cannot wait to share his experience and knowledge with our clients, and is already hard at work designing bespoke itineraries for members of the Origin family!
