The Plain of Jars is located in the remote northeastern province of Xiengkhouang, Laos, and is home to thousands of ancient stone jars known as guci. These enormous jars, some of which weigh up to 14 tons and measure 10 feet in height, have fascinated archaeologists for centuries.

Although it is believed that the jars were used to store corpses and that they may be 2,000 years old, their exact age, purpose, and creators are unknown. Join us as we investigate the history and mystique of the Plain of Jars.

Thousands of ancient stone jars were discovered in the remote northeastern Laos province of Xiengkhouang. This area is also known as the “Plain Jar” due to the presence of more than 2,000 ancient giant jars. This pile contains thousands of jars ranging in height from 10 feet to tons (the largest weighing up to 14 tons).
