Being “principled” doesn’t make you boring, it makes you morally right

The thing about principles is it doesn’t make the situation or your argument any more valid. It doesn’t change the facts. But it does, however, remind people of what the common values and ideologies are. What we morally believe in. What’s morally right and wrong.

Each one of us grew up being taught what’s right and what’s wrong. Why we need to apologize. Why we need to respect others. By reminding each other what the principle is, it reminds us of what ought to be right or wrong. What’s the bare and acceptable minimum. It still gives room for our personality — like a hot dog is the same as a chilli cheese dog to a the works. It’s still a hot dog in the end — but each with its own flair.
