What we can learn from Harry Potter

Seizing the opportunity — I refer to this as the “golden snitch moment”.

The golden snitch is the fast miniature flying ball that zips around the quidditch tournament in Harry Potter. It’s fast, it’s quick, and if you catch it you win the game.

What’s important about the golden snitch is it doesn’t give you much time to react. If you have to pause and think about grabbing it when it’s in front of you, it’s already too late. It’ll zip away to another end of the field. The bottom line is, if it’s in front of you, go after it and take it for yours to win.

This is no different than life. When something is in front of you, grab it. Seize the opportunity. Otherwise it may zip away and someone else will catch it before you.
