What you’re describing is not a “millennial”, it’s modern day.

It’s quite surprising to me that when someone describes what a “millennial” is, often they describe something who is technology enabled, and is with the trend.

On wikipedia the definition of millennials is from the 80s to 2000s. That’s a wide range of people!

To that I question, “how is that truly a millennial?” Isn’t that just someone who knows how to use the internet, and is a victim of modern-day advertising?

Many, many years ago when Macs were still not as popular, and PCs were still dominant (thinks 2000s), I remember someone describing why “Macs don’t get viruses”. It’s not that Macs don’t get viruses, it’s because that PCs were still the dominant eco-system, and for a hacker or creator of a computer virus where their end goal is to infect as many as possible, it made sense to infect PCs over Macs since there were many more PCs out there.

Likewise, if modern companies only have so XX resource to fund YY advertisements, does it not make sense to target the easiest and mass population, which is to use internet? This thereby means anyone who uses the internet and social media will be a victim of the ads. They are then the ones to uptake on new products and trends much quicker and faster.

It’s not a “millennial” thing, it’s a “modern-day” thing.
