Before moving on, we take no responsibility whatsoever if anything happens to your computer by following this blog series.

There are few methods for getting things ready that is: -

1. Virtual Machine (Shown in this blog)

2. Dual Boot

3. Fresh Install

4. WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) (CLI only)

Getting things set up:

Step 1: — Download Oracle VirtualBox / VM Ware (in this tutorial I will be using Oracle VirtualBox).

Step 1(Optional): — You can also download the extension pack for VirtualBox for from the same place.

Step 2: — Choose your favorite Linux Distro some of my favorites I have listed below:

Ubuntu

Manjaro (I will be using in this Blog)

Linux Mint

Pop OS

Garuda Linux etc.

Step 3: — After choosing from above or any other source simply download the .iso file.

Step 4: — Open VirtualBox

Step 5: — Click in New, and after clicking this window will appear.

Step 6: — Enter the name of the virtual machine the name of the distro.

Step 7: — Give the amount of RAM to the virtual machine, simply slide the slider to the end of green area as shown.

Step 8: — Now we need to create a virtual Hard Disk for the machine

Step 9: — Click on VHD

Step 10: — Make it Dynamically Allocated.

Step 11: — Limit the hard disk image to 50 GB and choose the location of the image.

Step 12: — Now it should look like this.

Step 13: — Click on Settings

Step 14: — Click on System > Processor and slide the processor slider to the end of Green Area.

Step 14(Optional): — Increase the Video memory from default to 256 MB by increasing the monitor count to 8 and then applying and then sliding the monitor count back to 1.

Step 15: — Time to install the virtual CD drive (.iso file downloaded earlier). Go to Settings > Storage > Click on Controller: IDE > Click on CD Icon and > Add the .iso file using the browse menu and then click ok.

Step 16: — Now click on start and Enjoy the virtual machine.

Step 17: — Boot up window for Manjaro Linux.

Step 18: — Click on Launch installer to get Started.

Step 19: — Choose the location and keyboard layout and then select to erase the complete disk.

Step 20: — Now enter the asked details, set the admin password, and also select which office suite u want to install and click on next and install.

Step 21: — Do not restart the machine simply turn it off and remove the .iso file from the machine and enjoy the Open-Source future
