Update: The Curiouser Reader Currently Closed for Submissions.

An editor should help and serve. That’s why I’m taking a break.

Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well. I need to confess something: I am not OK.

I am closing submissions for The Curiouser Reader temporarily — although I don’t know for how long — , keeping myself as the only contributor. I hope to reinstall all writers eventually, but I need to do work on myself, and also on the publication, as I have found that a very high number of submissions were often very off from the purpose and topics I originally intended. I need to succeed better in transmitting exactly what this publication is about, so I can attract fitting stories — I had to decline close to 90% of submissions, and I have no strength to fight this at the moment. I want to improve as an editor, and help other writers, but I need to look after myself first. This is not good-bye, and The Curiouser Reader will return. I still want to share many fascinating books and the ideas in them.

I apologise to some of you, who might have sent some submissions recently and I could only ignore them — as I have been ignoring Medium altogether. My self-esteem is in a precarious position; I don’t feel much capable at the moment of creating anything particularly unique, and I sure as hell am not…
