Creative Expression Is A Myth Buster

Despite Facebook and Instagram and the face swapping antics of Snap Chat, it’s still relatively easy to feel alone nowadays.

But the truth is…

We could never be truly alone.

You might feel like you are while you read this post in your living room, but that’s only the physical side of what is a multilayered reality.

What our rational mind will never be able to comprehend is the unseen connection we have with each other.

From the guy in San Quentin serving a life sentence for 3rd degree murder to the stay-at-home mom in Dallas to the sheep farmer in Tibet to the systems analyst in Beijing.

We are all intertwined in this elegant, yet volatile conduit of human experience called life.

The problem is, somewhere along the way, we were force fed some serious lies by society, religion, the education system, our cultural traditions, and yes, even our government.

One of my least favorite of these lies is the one that suggests that we’re all separate — that we’re just a bunch of globs of flesh and bone and electrical signals that have occasional run-ins with other globs.

The funny thing is, most humans know that there’s something fishy about this whole idea of separateness.

As deep as this lie has lodged itself in the human mind, we have a whisper inside of us that reminds us from time to time that we’re all…one.

That we’re all members of a body, a web of living beings experiencing this plane of existence together.

Somewhere in the quantum levels, we’re all doing this thing called life together. We’re loving together and feeling together and suffering together.

This is why our art matters.

Creative expression is a dispeller of myths.

Every time we exert our creative muscle, every time we express ourselves through our craft, another layer is peeled back on this grand unified field.

I think it’s about time we start looking at our creative output as a mechanism to help accelerate the awakening to this ultimate truth, this universal body.

So, the next time you’re feeling lonely, quiet down your thinking mind and go create something beautiful.
