Ultimately, a fantasy season is remembered for one thing: who earned a plaque on our esteemed League Trophy. But before 2017 fades from our memory, let’s look back at some of the most interesting records, statistics, and pick-ups throughout the league in our second year of Dynasty Football.

2017 Stats and Records

Fun fact: The Chumpion and Bunghole of 2016 switched titles in 2017.

Gurley’s 368.80 points accounted for a whopping 23% of Binh’s 1575.72 point total

I mentioned this previously, but Kurtis’ 1594.42 point total claimed a new record high, surpassing my 2016 total of 1578.24. Mikey’s 1131.98 was a record low as well, but even more interesting is that Mikey, Jeff, Joe, and Jason all scored lower than JR’s low of 1250.10 in 2016.

Fantasy MVPs (Total Points)

Todd Gurley, RB 1, 368.80 Total Points

Todd Gurley hurdled his way to a ridiculous 368.80 points last season and gets two photos as a reward. But while his name is no surprise when looking at the top scoring players at each position in 2017, a few others are.

Sidenote: It’s easy to get caught up in that dynasty mindset and covet youth and potential — but don’t forget to look at who’s actually scoring fantasy points, especially beyond the list below that only covers the top 3/6/9 (damn she fine) of each position.

Anyways, back to the topic. Some of the surprising names are due to the fact that of our 2017 MVPs, only 5 names made the list again from 2016: Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Travis Kelce. Obviously injuries played a big role this year — taking away names that probably would have made this list such as David Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, and Odell Beckham.

Russell Wilson, QB 1, 420.92 Total Points

QB
Russell Wilson: 420.92JR
Tom Brady: 359.38Josh
Cam Newton: 355.48Tani

First up, Wilson was actually a bit of a surprise to me at QB 1, and I definitely didn’t realize he had 60 more fantasy points than Brady or Cam (also kind of surprising at QB 3). But it makes sense once you see that Wilson added 600 yards and 3 TDs on the ground to his passing totals of almost 4000 yards and 34 TDs.

Honorable mention: Carson Wentz was quite possibly the NFL MVP before getting hurt and he was on pace to finish 2017 with 436.60 fantasy points.

Kareem Hunt, RB 4, 283.20 Total Points

RB
Todd Gurley: 368.80Binh
Le’Veon Bell: 317.10 Tani
Alvin Kamara: 288.40 Josh
Kareem Hunt: 283.20 Kurtis
Melvin Gordon: 272.10 Kevin
Mark Ingram: 258.00 Lando

Kamara and Hunt aren’t surprising names in that their rookie seasons have been talked about ad nauseam, but it’s still noteworthy that they’ve already catapulted themselves into being top-tier fantasy assets after one season. Also, not only did Saints teammates Kamara and Ingram both crack the top 6 RBs, they did it despite Adrian Peterson clogging up the rotation in the beginning of the season.

Larry Fitzgerald, Age 73, WR 6, 212.44 Total Points

WR
DeAndre Hopkins: 269.80 JR
Antonio Brown: 268.30 Lando
Keenan Allen: 249.20 Joe
Julio Jones: 228.40 Marlo
Michael Thomas: 219.50 Binh
Larry Fitzgerald: 212.44 Tani
Tyreek Hill: 205.70 Tani
Adam Thielen: 203.20 Binh
Marvin Jones: 199.10 Lando

Antonio Brown would have easily been WR 1 had he not gotten injured, but instead Hopkins takes that crown with a whopping 13 TDs caught in 2017. Meanwhile, Keenan Allen finally played a full 16 games and he didn’t disappoint with 1393 yards.

Young speedster Tyreek Hill is a bit of a surprise on the list and although Pat Mahomes has the arm strength to take advantage of Hills skill set, Alex Smith was quietly the best deep ball quarterback in 2017 despite his reputation as a game manager. It will be interesting to see how Tyreek does in 2018.

Zach Ertz, TE 3, 166.40 Total Points

TE
Rob Gronkowski: 206.40 Bunger
Travis Kelce: 198.50 Anton
Zach Ertz: 166.40 Kurtis

Gronk reclaimed his throne as TE 1 after an injury plagued year in 2016, but Kelce wasn’t far behind with 198.50 points.

Zach Ertz has been racking up 70 catch, 800 yard seasons since 2015, but finally came through with 8 TDs in 2017 to push him into the top 3 at the position.

Philadelphia, DEF 3, 224.00 Total Points

DEF
Jacksonville: 262.00 Tani
Baltimore: 239.00 Binh
Philadelphia: 224.00 Lando

K
Greg Zuerlein: 182.00 Binh
Stephen Gostkowski: 172.00 JR
Robbie Gould: 170.00 Kevin
