Introducing: Rivalry Weeks
Let’s get it onn

Introducing Rivalry Weeks! The first week and the last week of each season will be identified as a Rivalry Week, with increased stakes for the weekly matchups. I picked Week 1 to kick off the fantasy season with a bang, and Week 13 to add extra motivation to win during a week where some teams might be out of the playoff race. Both weeks also benefit from not having any bye weeks.
Some 2016 season story lines (like a Super Bowl rematch) factored into the rival matchups, and for the others I tried my best to match people up with a fun rival (like J Tong vs his cousin). The fit wasn’t always perfect though, so if you don’t think there’s a rivalry between you and your matchup, then it’s time to create one! Without further ado, here are your 2017 Rivalry Week matchups.
Week 1
Anton vs Jason (Super Bowl Rematch)
Marlo vs Kurtis (Chumpion Bowl Rematch)
Bunger vs Joe (Sacko Bowl Rematch)
Kevin vs Jeff (Jeff knocked Kevin out of the playoffs in Week 13 by 0.70 points)
Mikey vs Binh
Josh vs JR
Tani vs Lando
Week 13
Anton vs Joe
Marlo vs JR
Bunger vs Mikey
Kevin vs Jason
Jeff vs Tani
Lando vs Josh
Kurtis vs Binh
Extra Stakes
Now, the final question: what are the increased stakes?! For that, I need your help. Let me know which of these options you prefer:
- $10 FAAB Reward — Winner of the rival matchup is awarded $10 FAAB
- $10 FAAB Bet — Loser pays the winner $10 FAAB
- $10 Cash Reward — Winner of the rival matchup is awarded $10 from league fees. This would require fees to increase by $10 to cover the 14 winners between the two weeks.
- $10 Cash Bet — Loser pays winner $10, doesn’t involve league fees. Everyone agrees to this prior to the season and promises to pay if they lose.
What do you guys think?
