The Rundown

Anton and Josh made three trades on draft day last year and this year they get started early with multiple picks moving around. The meat of this trade is in the 1st and 2nd Round Picks, so let’s just look at that.

Josh packages his Consolation Pick 1.15 with Pick 2.06 in order to move up and secure a top 8 selection to add to his existing 1.06. This draft is reported to be weaker compared to recent years, especially after the 1st Round, so it’s a strategy that makes a lot of sense to maximize the chance of landing a difference-maker. Sources have been unable to obtain any leaks from the front office about potential targets at those picks for Josh.

For Anton, league sources report that he had a target at 1.08 that he feels could still be available at 1.15 due to the high variance in opinion on the players in this draft class. It’s a risky maneuver to do, especially considering the draft is still a month away and rankings could shift, but the additional 2nd is worth it for him. Even in a weak class, Anton said recently to reporters that he’s confident in his ability to find value in that area of the draft.
