Nuk Hopkins dominated with 35.40 points in Week 8

Challenger Approaching

8 weeks down, 5 to go for the fantasy regular season, and Kevin has officially emerged as a playoff contender. Last week’s victory made it 5 in a row and it’s not just his RB’s and Wentz doing the work either. I avoided mentioning Will Fuller in Kevin’s power ranking blurb assuming his 5 TDs on 8 receptions to be unsustainable. Fuller proceeded to catch 2 more TDs in Week 7 bringing his total to 7 on just 13 catches.

Sustainable or not — with DeShaun Watson balling out of his mind, Fuller is officially one of the scariest WRs (along with Hopkins of course) to face in fantasy until further notice. Not to be outdone, JuJu (on that beat) exploded for 193 yards and a TD last week and is carving himself out a true role in Pittsburgh's offense and on Kevin’s fantasy team. And don’t forget about Sterling Shepard, who’s returning from injury this week and should be a fantasy WR3 based on volume alone with the WR depleted Giants.

Cellar Dwellers

Since I spent time talking about the top 8 teams last week in the power rankings, let’s throw a bone to the bottom 3 teams of the standings real quick. Unlike this random 80s movie poster, the shape of their rosters should point to sweet dreams ahead, not nightmares.

Mikey continues his quest for Saquon with a truly admirable loss against Tani, who only scored 72.66 points. Don’t sleep though, the makings of a Kurtis-esque rebound are there: Mikey has the young star QB (Dak) and WR talent (Cooper, Landry) for a solid core. Whether it’s Saquon or another talented college RB, pairing them with Tevin Coleman and Marlon Mack should give Mikey plenty of juice heading into next season.

Marlo and Joe faced off in last week’s “Tank Bowl”, with Joe able to notch his 2nd win of the season. Marlo is another team that should rebound with ease as Luck should be back healthy next season and his WRs are elite talents despite their relative struggles this year. In fact, Marlo might not need young RB talent as much as the other bottom teams as Derrick Henry looks primed to take over the Titans backfield in 2018.

Joe looks to be on a longer rebuilding path after his win-now core failed to claim a ship last season, but he has plenty of players that are viewed as strong dynasty stashes courtesy of Joe’s 2017 draft class. Of those, Corey Davis has the best shot at producing right away, but Curtis Samuel, Taywan Taylor, and David Njoku are all players that could grow into significant contributors. Speaking of player growth, Paul Richardson deserves mention as finally breaking out after injuries plagued the former NFL 2nd Round Pick through his first 3 years.
