We are setting out to create a tool which will help you be more than a dad. It will help you become the father your children want and need. This isn’t the end all, be all, for fatherhood writing. However, it is a place here on Medium where dads and fathers can learn.

Try and Find Another Publication Like This One

I’m not one to talk trash. But I will say I haven’t been able to find a publication on Medium that is serving fathers well. Or helping men grow in their role as fathers. And I haven’t found one which shares solid stories about great dads. This is a place for those things.

I believe as fathers, we are building into the lives of our children. — Jack Heimbigner

And as hammers are used to build houses, we are used to build the next generation. This publication is a tool for you to build into your children. If this describes how you feel, this is the publication for you.

What is The Dad Hammer Pub About?

This publication focuses on the following five topics: Fatherhood, Parenting, Advice, Stories, and Family. Within these areas there is a lot of ground to cover. And I want to give you a better idea here:

Fatherhood: Being More than Dad

President Barack Obama put it simply: “Any fool can have a child. That doesn’t make you a father. It’s the courage to raise a child that makes you a father.” Under this topic we are looking for the courageous moments of being a father.

Parenting: Doing This Together

Being a father is one part of building into your children. While there are some cases where it might only be dad, there are many where mom and dad work together as a team. Under this focus, we are looking for those stories about the team.

Advice: We All Hear It, We All Could Use It

We have all received unwanted advice about being fathers and parents. And yet, sometimes we receive that one piece of advice that blows us away. With this topic, we are looking for your best tips to share with others.

Stories: Encourage, Lifted Up, Challenges and Examples

On Father’s Day we hear stories about dads. Good and bad, happy and sad. And yet, everyday a dad needs encouragement or a challenge in their life to push them. We are looking for stories to encourage and push fathers to being better men.

Family: One Unit Preparing for the Future

Sometimes, we have great extended family such as grandparents, uncles and aunts who help lift up the family. We are looking to see how the family as a whole plays into your father journey.

Our Goal: Dad Growth → Child Growth

We want to see men growing into the fathers they were made to be. And because they are growing, their children are growing. We want contributors to share their stories, tips, and encouragement to help make this happen.

You do not have to be a father to contribute to this publication.

But we do want to follow our guidelines and focus on the topics to help fathers grow which leads to building into the lives of our children.

You do not have to contribute to enjoy The Dad Hammer Pub.

We want this to be a place for fathers to grow and that means you do not have to know it all or feel a need to write for the publication. If you want to learn more or want to see men going into amazing fathers, this place is for you too.

Connect and Share

The great thing about The Dad Hammer Pub is that we can connect a variety of ways. Not only will we publish stories here on Medium, we will share them on Facebook, and Twitter. These stories will be shared via these other platforms as well, so make sure you like and follow both!
