Every parent struggles with being a parent.

When life gets overwhelming and there are a million things to do, we can spiral out of our minds and forget how amazing it is that we are privileged to be parents.

These little lives love us and need us and want us. Yet, we can get frustrated, angry, and worn out.

It happens. I had t happen to me recently.

Haircut, Bedtime, and Snuggles

Last night was a mess. We had to cut my hair because we’re doing family photos tomorrow. They are our last photos before our third daughter comes.

So, my 8-month pregnant wife was forced to cut my hair because I can’t get in for a trim.

After my haircut is complete my pregnant wife goes off to our room. I’m left in a pair of basketball shorts, covered in hair clippings, with my 6yo and 4yo.

It’s passed their bedtime, but I need to clean off. But, I don’t because we are headed for a meltdown. We rush through the bedtime routine and everyone is in their bed.

I read How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Jesus Storybook Bible. I sing bedtime songs and then hustle off to the shower.
