Since the start of the 2019 Formula 1 season, it was clear that Mercedes had picked up where they left off in 2018. However, amid their dominating start to the 2019 campaign, Max Verstappen has been superbly consistent.

Backed by his Honda-powered Red Bull, Verstappen has picked up two wins in the last four races and is now 69 points behind Lewis Hamilton. With such positive momentum heading into the summer break, can Max Verstappen continue his fight against Mercedes to win a world title?

Not only will Max have to defeat both Mercedes cars, but also a struggling Ferrari team needs to be included in the equation. It’s bold to think he could, and of course, this prediction comes with large amounts of optimism, but at times Formula 1 can be incredibly unpredictable.

To be quite frank, hoping Max Verstappen wins the championship in 2019 means that Mercedes will need to have a monumental collapse in the coming races.

It was evident in Hungary that Mercedes still has a massive margin over Red Bull. Seeing Lewis Hamilton lap-by-lap slice into Max Verstappen’s lead was painful to watch. That being said, having his Ferrari rivals pick up some solid victories can help sway the points distribution into Verstappen’s favour.
