Mercedes has unveiled a sweet teaser image of the livery they will use at the upcoming Formula 1 German Grand Prix. The reason behind this one-off livery is to celebrate 200 starts for the team in Formula 1, and to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first motorsport event held in 1894.

As you can see, the design features cool camouflage aspects while also keeping relatively faithful to the classic ‘silver arrow’ look. Formula 1 teams seem to shy away from one-off designs, and this is mainly due to sponsors having high expectations for how their brand is represented.

Luckily for Mercedes, they are one of the few teams that can afford to be a little creative. Red Bull has shown this numerous times in preseason testing, but not during a race. Their most recent version of a one-off ‘livery’ was adding 007 branding to their cars for the most recent British Grand Prix.
