Red Bull Racing calls up Pierre Gasly for 2019 season

It’s another big announcement in the Formula 1 paddock.

Red Bull Racing has officially announced that Pierre Gasly will be replacing Daniel Ricciardo for the 2019 Formula 1 season. Pierre has spent his brief (one year) Formula 1 career at Red Bull’s development team, Toro Rosso.

In this short time, he has proven himself with undeniable talent and motivation. Qualifying fifth for the Bahrain Grand Prix earlier this year was way of saying, ‘I’m here to stay.’ Although he has had a tricky season past Bahrain, there is no doubt he has the natural talent to compete in a Red Bull.

Along with his talent, he also has Honda power unit experience which will be a significant asset when Red Bull switches to Honda next year. This is something Carlos Sainz Jr did not have. Although Carlos signed a McLaren deal last week, he was the one other leading contender for the Red Bull seat.

It’s going to interesting to see how he stacks up against Max Verstappen, a multiple race winner and proven talent. Pierre may not out drive Max right away, but you can ensure it will be thrilling.
