Valtteri Bottas is being very sneaky this year
With a shot at the drivers title still in focus, the Fin can catch people by surprise.

Replacing the 2016 world champ Nico Rosberg may seem like a daunting task. However, Valtteri Bottas has handled it quite well. Beginning his Formula 1 career in 2010 as a test driver for Williams, Valtteri has risen through the ranks to earn a great reputation. The 2017 season has looked a lot different for him. Getting a seat in the top team is partially great timing but also a sign of great skill.
Mercedes gave him a chance and it seems to be a good fit. With outstanding seasons in 2014 and 2015, it really showed that he can compete at such a high level. Being placed in a garage with three time world champ Lewis Hamilton would also be a great experience. Not to mention, the pay is probably better at Mercedes.

So far this season Valtteri is sitting third in the drivers title race. That’s just 33 points behind leader Sebastian Vettel. There are nine races left on the calendar so pretty much anything could happen. Especially with the summer break it will be hard to predict who has used time wisely.
Picking up wins in Russia and Austria has given Valtteri confidence moving forward. There will be challenges ahead like Singapore but Mercedes will have an advantage on other circuits. Hopefully there can be three drivers battling for the title but we can only dream. Belgium will provide a great opportunity for Mercedes but they are being cautious of other teams.
