Why Force India is in a very interesting position
The Silverstone based F1 team is currently in 4th place, so what lies ahead?

So far the 2017 season has produced two dominate teams. This has left the rest of the pack scrambling to catch up…again. Red Bull is third with Force India bringing on the pressure. The current era of engines leaves little room for smaller teams to improve but with regulations getting simpler in 2021, a lot can change.
Teams that rely on other suppliers will have an opportunity to close the performance gap once engines become simpler and cheaper. Currently Force India uses a Mercedes power unit. This is clearly a great choice. To compound this, the team has two great drivers, Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez. Of course no one knows where these drivers will end up by 2021 so the future of Force India is still unknown. Although what harm is there in predicting?
Force India is actually in a great position. They are high enough in the standings that the money is somewhat not an issue and they have the talent to still bring in valuable points. By the time regulations change they could already make the gap closer. So by 2021 the top 4 or 5 teams can be battling it out. This still might sound uncompetitive but it would be a big change compared to the past few years.
Being in the position they are in now, Force India is set up for a successful 5–10 years. World championships may be out of the question now but who knows what could happen. Renault is still a huge threat as well, with a proven history they can never be counted out. Not to mention Williams, they always find a way to stick around. Seeing a smaller outfit on top would be pretty cool and just good for the sport.
