I’ve been trying to check into Medium as often as possible, but I’m on a mega road trip showing my folks around.

If you’re in or from around NYC, have a car, want to rent a car, and have an inclination to drive vast distances, then a trip straight up Interstate 87 to Montreal is not one to be missed.

NYC to Montreal takes about 6 hours without stopping. It’s not a bad road trip at all. Also, think about all the bonuses. You get to visit a new country without taking a flight and be transported to a place with European flair.

It’s funny how the cultural scene changes completely once you’re in French Canada. Speeds are shown in kilometers and road signs are in French. Most of the people speak French exclusively, so it’s a wonderful way to acquire or practice the language.

The food in Montreal is to die for as well. We have never picked a bad restaurant there, in any cuisine!

We were feeling so energized by this change in scenery, that we even took a day trip (3 hours) to Quebec City for an even more authentic French feel. My husband sure loves to drive.
