Have You Been To The Library Lately?

I’m still getting used to our “tiny” library “up North.” Always a fan of libraries, and librarians, I am put off by this branch of the Wisconsin library system. It seems “cold” and I don’t mean temperature-wise!

Suffice it to say, that I’m glad it’s part of a bigger system with interlibrary loan and that’s what I’ve made use of. Just I as I went to pick up the book I had on hold yesterday, the power went out in the library and thus, their computer went down. No internet = no checking books out.

Oh, for the days of yore!

Actually, I felt for the library aide as she was flustered. I had groceries in the car and had already done some errands so I reassured her it wasn’t her fault, and stated I would come back today for my book.

And so I did. The book on hold was OUTLIVE: The Science and Art of Longevity. I am reading it to be able to discuss with a friend after we’re both finished. The topic seemed interesting and having a medical-nursing background, I wanted to see what was between the covers.

At sixty, I’m at the point where I feel like I need to be proactive about my health. And, I’ve always felt medicine is as much an art as it is a…
