Having Entertainment on Demand Changed My Love for My Favorite TV Shows
Although I rarely do this, I had some thoughts after reading sea-at-sunrise’s post on childhood cartoons in the Daily Cuppa. I didn’t want to leave a novel of a comment, so I decided to write my own post.
I became a wrestling fan in 1999- I saw Stone Cold at a live event and my entertainment life changed forever.
Back then, if you missed an episode of RAW or SmackDown, you missed the updates and new action. Sure, you could read about what happened on-line or watch the weekend recap show. However, it wasn’t the same.
As I got more into professional wrestling, I developed Monday and Friday night traditions.
I had to ask permission ahead of time. My grandmother and I had a Monday night schedule. Once she realized that “this wrestling thing was here to stay”, she had the television until 10 pm. I got to catch the last hour of the show. She didn’t care so much about Friday.
My typical night? Get homework done early, heat something up quickly and be in front of the television 10 minutes before showtime.
I had to consciously choose to watch instead of doing something else.
I gladly made that choice.
