Memories flood into my mind
Some of them are too much to take
Talk of times when I was young
It’s not a piece of cake.

Adjusting my perspective
And ratifying time
Has made me feel vulnerable
And it’s a long, hard climb.

I wish to miss the in betweens
And return into the now
A place I feel secure
Sometimes I don’t know how.

I need your hand to hold my love
To guide me through the night
Kinship and solidarity
And for things to feel right.

I know you have my measure
And can see I’m vulnerable
We know when we’re together
Life is wonderful.

I’ll miss you when you go today
Emotions run so deep
When you’re not beside me
I’m often up the creek.

Everyone’s susceptible
I’m not the only one
Love salves the emotions
When there’s no place to run.
