Remarkable Evergreen Writing Lessons From a Marathon
There’s always a marathon somewhere in the world and around the corner, just like there’s always a writing competition or a thoughtful article, waiting to be written by someone like you.
When you witness people running in a marathon, you’re witnessing a special breed of humans. Not because they’re exceptionally talented or possess extraordinary luck.
These athletes have worked hard and persevered. They’ve met many stumbling blocks, dealt with injuries, and have had moments of darkness when they were about to give up.
But they didn’t.
When I stood by the sidelines cheering them on, I felt a special energy that rubbed off on me and others. I looked around and felt everyone making resolutions about improving their own lives, as if it were New Year’s Eve.
Imagine everyone in the photo above as a writer, running towards their goal to be successful with words. Now replace the word ‘Run’ with ‘Write’ on the green poster as shown.
These are the lessons we can learn from these amazing athletes. They come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. I saw several people over 70 running in the NYC Marathon. What’s more inspiring than that?
