The Most Special Jewel in the Whole Wide World … LOST!
Life would never be the same
All in a day’s work for a weary bus driver. Some of the bus drivers I encountered when teaching, were veritable angels, always sorting out issues with their charges, especially the kindergarten ones.
This is one of my favourite stories. The star player, probably still somewhat dramatic as she’s now a corporate lawyer, wholeheartedly owns the story these days.
Sara couldn’t be consoled.
In between sobs she explained to her teacher that she’d lost her precious jewel on the bus. She’d tried to find it, but Mr Ken the bus driver, had to be on his way to another school, and he just didn’t have time to look for it.
“And so … that was that!” she wailed dramatically.
Her teacher kindly took her hand and explained that she was sure she could find an even better gem in her drawer.
“No you can’t,” Sara wailed. “No! It was the specialist gem in the whole wide world.”
“I’m sure it was,” her teacher responded calmly, “but you just never know.”
But Sara knew better.
Letting go of her teacher’s firm hand, she crawled into a far corner of the room, her face pure evidence that her teacher didn’t…
