Watching My Nieces Grow Up
Things I appreciate every day #2
My nieces have been an important part of my life since the day they were born. In fact, I talked to my sister the day she gave birth to her oldest daughter (maybe don’t answer your phone while in labor if you don’t want to talk… LOL).
When I moved away from home, I knew I’d miss significant parts of their lives, but my sister has always updated me with pictures and stories. Some are funny. Some are sad. Some make me angry on their behalf.
The oldest is now a 19-year-old, living in “The City,” somewhere in the Salt Lake area. She’s busy with her job, her boyfriend, and her cousins. She had what I thought was an awesome job in Vernal — working behind the scenes for Discovery’s show about the Blind Frog Ranch.
If you’re familiar with the Skinwalker Ranch show, it’s similar to that. She and her boyfriend were sort-of go-fers, if I understood correctly. They were sent into town to pick up lunch and things like that.
The youngest just got her driver’s license. She participates in her high school plays and loves acting and singing. I got to see her audition for a play last fall. When she went on stage and started singing, I almost started bawling right there in the auditorium. I was so proud of her and in awe of her talent. I was trying to film her…
