Tips From the Poet’s Path: Sometimes we need to learn to sharpen our pencils by rewriting.

Working on my Six-Step Publication Plan for the BYOB Challenge, I’m determined to stick to my October publication date.

With week twelve under my belt, I dedicate my energy to perfecting the second draft of my poetry book, The Grape Picker’s Daughter.

As a writer, I’m constantly searching for books that will fine-tune and enhance my writing craft. This week on my writer’s journey I found the book, On Writing Well by William Zinsser. He was a writer, editor, literary critic, and teacher with an eye for teaching the fine art of writing.

As a former teacher, I have a special connection to writers who have taught during their careers. When I read their work, I often find that they have a knack for teaching, making learning both easy and interesting.

I always enjoy basking in the afterglow of a well-written book about the art of writing, savoring every word of writing wisdom. Little sparks of new knowledge I recently learned keep me spinning for days in a world of how I can incorporate these new ideas into my writing.
