What I Miss About Western New York and What I Can Still Do Without
A visit back to the Rochester-Buffalo area is both good and bad
Returning to Western New York always brings a juxtaposition of feelings.
Firstly, I grew up in the area so I see many fixtures of my childhood — neighborhoods and the two houses in which I grew up — among them.
#1 Wegmans Grocery Stores — The thing I miss most
Grocery stores are also a favorite. I am a Wegman’s girl through and through. Every Friday night, my sister and I tagged along with my parents to Wegmans for grocery shopping. We went to the store in Ridgemont Plaza which was one of the first locations for this family of grocers.
Still today, I look forward to going to Wegmans. They have a large selection, they work with local farms, and they have a large pre-prepared dinner section.
I used to love their bulk foods section too. They still have one but it’s now limited. We have the COVID pandemic to thank for the demise of the bulk candy aisle.
