Katie Michaelson announced a Medium Rant Fest on Jan 11 and 12, 2025, to assist writers in healing from the trauma suffered when the platform decided not to reward human writers.

The situation was tense.

New Year’s resolutions were written. Story outlines were lined up and a new spirit of comradeship was in the air. Writers were eager to bring their friends on board to join their favorite writing community.

On or about January 7th, 2025 writers on Medium woke up and checked their Stats.

Around the world, writers sat their morning cuppa down and slumped over their porridge in despair.

$0.00 loomed large.

$0.01 on stories with 100 reads.

“What is wrong with me?” echoed through their minds.

Franticly trying to figure out what was going on, writers looked at their Medium feeds.
