Dear Mister Sun,

I know it’s noon. You are scorching my back.

I can feel your presence piercing through the dry earth. I feel you even through my shoes.

Your friends — ‘Humidity’ are not helping. They are smothering me like a wet blanket from head to toe.

Sweat is trickling down my back. Every nook and crease on my body are like tiny pools of dampness, desperate for cool air.

But it is just you and me on our date at the ‘Kebun-Kebun Bangsar.’

The flowers are in bloom, doing their ritual dance to soak up your rays of light while the bees and butterflies flirt shamelessly among them.

It feels good to stretch and reach up to you.

Thank you for taking me out.

I am grateful to be dating you today.

Yours truly,

Ching Ching
