A little while ago, I found a packet of lottery scratch tickets my husband gave me for my birthday. He had given me two — I opened one right away.

I had forgotten about this one, and as I eyed it, I went through the fantasies of who I’d share it with if I was a grand prize winner.

The other day I decided it was finally time to learn what I already knew; that the tickets were likely duds, and they were.
