And Here Comes The Rain At Last

Sunday sonnet

A heavy rain starts tapping on the ground.
Still faster tap tap tapping powder dry
and dusty dirt that splatters all around
falls back to earth too sodden now to fly.

This season’s last late chance to fall, I think.
And now the sky has opened up. I find
respite in this well needed…
