Wandering through my favourite antique store, I found a box of cards that sent me back to when I was a kid. Mum had kept all the cards she received when I was born, and after she handed them down to me, I would sit and read them periodically.
Many of the designs were similar. What I love about these cards is the attention to detail, both in the diagrams and the trim. The scalloped edges are beautiful, and the cards are folded into four rather than being made of cardboard.
Despite the yellowing of the envelopes, the cards are in great shape. But the selection doesn’t fit my needs. I’ve passed the stage of welcoming babies, and there are more get-well cards than I hope to ever need to use.
It made me think: who still sends cards if a friend is celebrating, commiserating or unwell? Do you?
