“Bubble & Squeak”: Where Did It Get Its Name?
I’m enjoying a British series called, “Million Pound Challenge.”
It’s about people with unique food ideas that are appealing to investors. Their desire is to advance their creative food concepts from street stand sales to their own restaurants.
Today’s show was about a potential new restaurant named, Bubble & Squeak.
You may already know what Bubble and Squeak is. Tell me in the comments if you do. [I didn’t 😃]
If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a traditional British comfort food that’s typically made from leftover vegetables of potatoes and cabbage and other veggies mixed together; then fried till crispy. (Various meats often added).
But, do you know how it originally earned the name, Bubble and Squeak?
Answer: The sound it makes while frying.
