Choosing a child’s name can be creative and fun.

I named my oldest daughter after kids at my clowning parties, my son after a beloved grandfather, and my youngest after a soap opera character.

While two of them are in their thirties and one is in her mid-twenties, I am still in love with the names I’ve given them.

When I began writing on Medium, I gave my oldest daughter a pseudonym to protect her privacy.
