Day 4: My BYOB Content: Haiku Part 1
Poetry can take many forms. In my BYOB book of poetry, I will present my work in two main forms haiku and poetic prose.
As a reader of poetry, I often wonder what inspired a poet’s work. As I share my poetry, I will also highlight its origin.
Many poets use haiku as a vehicle to paint a simple story of nature in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines.
It is a form of Japanese poetry.
- line one is 5 syllables
- line two is 7 syllables
- line three is 5 syllables
Haiku may or may not have punctuation and capitalization.
Haiku: A Kiss Upon My Face
I felt her wet kiss
quickly as she came, she left
stormy wet kisses
Author’s notes:
I was watching a rainstorm through my bedroom window one spring.
Give haiku a try.
