Don’t Read to Impress

Why you read is something entirely personal to you. It could be a strong desire to escape the mundane or perhaps to humor your occasional bouts of wanderlust until your income can support such escapades. You might read to expand the horizons of your mind or to contain the boundless activity within it.

But whatever that reason might be, let it not be to prove a point to someone. Let not the sweet joy of reading something spectacular be tainted by the constant need for validation that our generation already suffers from.

Read for yourself and yourself alone. Let it be the one activity you commit to as a gift to yourself — a thank-you note to your mind and soul.
