A versatile herb
Lemongrass consists of 45+ species, and it originates from the subtropics. This herb is a popular component in many cuisines from Vietnam to the Caribbean. Its roots grow voraciously, so be sure to plant wisely. Disinfectants often include its active compounds, geraniol and citronellol.
Some call it citronella grass, a central part of mosquito repellants. Herbal infusions often include lemongrass, and India is its largest producer. It’s the main ingredient of van van oil - used to conjure, cook, and protect in Hoodoo.
