The concert had an intermission, so we went to the lobby for refreshments and mingling.
“I’d love a glass of wine,” I said.
“Me too,” said my companion. “Red or white?”
“Do they have sweet wine?” I wondered.
We asked the wine server. It turned out there was only dry wine.
“I’ll just go with the red, then,” I said to the server.
My companion looked at me earnestly. “I don’t drink a lot, just on occasion. Also, I don’t drink to get drunk,” he said.
“Same here,” I replied.
Then he told me he once got into a car accident due to driving under the influence.
“So I don’t drink and drive anymore,” he said.
“That’s good. Having just one glass of wine is fine, though,” I replied.
He agreed and also told me I seemed mature and sensible.
