Gardener John stopped by for coffee, and you know what?
He brought me a dozen eggs fresh from the farm. Oh, and looking up from the Monday free paper he said, “Wasp spray is half price. Do you use that?”
“Heavens no. I like wasps in my garden. Do you use it?”
Then with his wise old gardener guy look, he said, “What most people don’t realize is that wasps eat the bad bugs and are pretty fair pollinator's. And they are friendly.”
“Oh yes, if you move slowly and tell them what you’re doing they move out of the way.”
He seemed to appreciate what I said. “Well, I don’t talk to them,” he said.
“I bet you pause and let them look at you.”
“That I do.”
“You’re communicating with them without words,” I said and smiled.
